Never Too Late
Sheila Dardashti
What a story! A folksinger from Queens,
New York goes to Israel, meets and marries
a Persian TV singing star. Back in the USA,
they perform together as Farid and Sheila.
Later, The Dardashti Family includes their
three daughters, singing in 12 languages
across North America. After forming The
In-Laws and Outlaws, a musical group
with her son-in-law and grandchildren, she
finally releases her first album of original
songs at the age of 78! Sheila is excited to
now share her adventures as a singer, an
unconventional wife of a famous Cantor,
the matriarch of a musical Sephardic
family, and more! She shows us all that it’s
never too late to pursue your passion!
Sheila Dardashti began playing guitar
and mandolin at age 11 and attended New
York’s famous High School of Performing
Arts. She balances and blends a life of
music and family, with both Ashkenazi and
Sephardic customs. Sheila has taught early
childhood, special education and literacy,
incorporating music into the classroom,
and exposing students to melodies and
rhythms of the world. Her new album Build
Me A Home is a reflection of her love of
people, family and life!
