In this glorious recital, we
celebrate two hundred years
of Jewish vocal music. From
secular poetry set by Jewish
composers initially performed
in 19th century music salons,
to Jewish poetry and the liturgy
sung in great synagogues,
tenor Arieh Sacke treats us
to the music of Offenbach,
Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Finzi,
Toronto’s own Srul Glick, plus
a few pleasant surprises. It’s
an exquisite hour of music
performed by a superb vocalist!
Arieh Max Sacke has built a versatile career
spanning opera, oratorio, and concert work across
North America. He has performed leading roles
with Cincinnati Opera, Calgary Opera, Manitoba
Opera, and Opera Saratoga. Arieh is co-founder
of the Fonitika Vocal Ensemble and The Java &
Three, and he serves as Eastern Opera Region
Councilor on the National Council of the Canadian
Actors’ Equity Association. He holds a Master of
Music degree from the University of Cincinnati
College Conservatory of Music and completed his
undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto.
